SAA Australia International Limited is the only standards certification body in Australia, and all electrical products must undergo safety certification (SAA). Inspection agencies conduct destructive tests on electrical appliances to check their safety and reliability, such as continuously overloading electrical appliances under high temperature conditions to check their safety performance. A water leakage test should be conducted on the exterior of the washing machine to check for any electrical leakage. Abnormal use of electrical sockets to check for potential safety hazards, etc.
There are two main types of SAA logos, one is formal recognition and the other is standard logo. Formal certification is only responsible for samples, while standard marks require factory inspection by each individual. There are currently two ways to apply for SAA certification in China. One is to transfer through a CB test report. If there is no CB test report, one can also apply directly.
At present, there are 43 certification agencies eligible to accept certification applications. Here are only a few examples:
1. Office of Fair Trading, New South Wales
2. 2. Department of Industrial Relations, Queensland
3. The Office of the Chief Electrical Inspector, Victoria
4. SAA Approval Pty Ltd (SAA Institution)
5 Office of Energy Policy, South Australia
6 Office of Energy, Western Australia
7 Office of Electricity, Standards and Safety, Tasmania
8 Ministry of Commerce, New Zealand
After one of the certification acceptance agencies issues a certificate, the abbreviation code of the certification company and the registration certificate number are stamped as the "safety mark", for example, "N12345", indicating a certificate issued by NSW with a registration number of "12345". There is no certification mark for safety certification, and the logo of the issuing authority cannot be placed on the label. The authentication number needs to be printed on the label.
Australian standards start with "AS", while the joint standards between Australia and New Zealand start with "AS/NZS". The standards of Australia and New Zealand are basically consistent with IEC, but there are some national differences. Australia and New Zealand promote standardization and mutual recognition of certification, and products can be sold in another country as long as they obtain certification from one country. Australian safety certification covers all six continents of Australia.
The products subject to SAA certification control can be divided into two types: mandatory electronic products and non mandatory electronic products:
1. Declared Electrical Products covers 56 major categories of products, such as external power sources or chargers, wires, plugs, household appliances (60335-2-9, -14, 15, -23, -80), lighting fixtures (60598-2-4), etc. Controlled electrical appliances are required to obtain a certificate of approval issued by the monitoring department, namely SAA certification, and are required to be labeled (with a certificate number).
Application process
1. Customer prepares samples and submits materials
2. Laboratory testing
3. Submit test reports and materials to the issuing institution
4. After the certification agency approves the documents, they issue the SAA certificate
